Leah Brown, President and CEO A10 Clinical Solutions, Inc.

Leah Brown is President and CEO of A10 Clinical Solutions, Inc. She founded A10 in 2004 in honor of her uncle, who died from HIV/AIDS in the 1980’s, a time when minimal education or treatments were available to save him. A10’s mission is Healing the World through meaningful engagements in clinical research with pharmaceutical companies, government agencies and medical academic research institutions, as well as through managing corporate onsite employee primary health clinics and preventive health programs.

Inc. magazine named A10 one of the Fastest Growing Private Companies in 2010 and 2011, ranked No. 92 overall, No. 5 in the health industry. Brown’s leadership has also garnered recognition and accolades from Ernst & Young, Bloomberg BusinessWeek, American Express OPEN, Forbes, Fortune, CNBC, Black Enterprise, NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams, and others.

Brown is an awareness writer and speaker for workforce issues impacting clinical research. She is the Healthcare Committee Chair for Women Impacting Public Policy, and also co-founded the non-profit Diversity Alliance for Science, aimed at partnering diverse suppliers with large pharmaceutical companies. Brown is a licensed attorney, has held several executive positions in the healthcare industry, and has attended client-sponsored executive management programs at Dartmouth College and Northwestern University.

Donald Casey, CEO Medical Segment Cardinal Health

Donald Casey is CEO of the Medical Segment of Cardinal Health, where he is responsible for the company's medical-surgical products and services for hospitals, physician offices, clinical laboratories, ambulatory surgery centers, long-term care facilities and other health care providers. He also serves on the board of directors of the West Wireless Health Institute, which he led as CEO for two years beginning in 2010. He has 25 years of global healthcare experience, as well as an outstanding track record in identifying and commercializing medical innovations. As CEO of the Institute, Casey oversaw the development of a world-class research organization focused on accelerating wireless health innovations to lower healthcare costs. He defined the Institute’s worldwide strategy and collaborative efforts across medicine, engineering, technology and business.

Previously, Casey served as Worldwide Chairman for Johnson & Johnson’s comprehensive care group and member of the Company’s Executive committee, where he oversaw its cardiovascular, diagnostic, diabetes and vision care franchises around the world. He was responsible for defining a corporate-wide comprehensive approach to chronic disease management, including leading the development of patient-centric solutions and innovations within the medical device segment for some of the world’s most pervasive conditions, including diabetes and cardiovascular disorders. Casey began his career with Johnson & Johnson in 1985, advancing into executive positions throughout the company’s consumer, pharmaceutical and medical device franchises.

Casey holds an MBA from the University of Notre Dame.

Dr. H. Edward Davidson, PharmD Insight Therapeutics

H. Edward Davidson, PharmD, MPH is a partner of Insight Therapeutics, a research and patient care consulting firm in Norfolk, Virginia, and is Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine with the Glennan Center for Geriatrics and Gerontology at Eastern Virginia Medical School. In addition, he is the Editor-in-Chief of The Consultant Pharmacist, the official journal of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists.

Dr. Davidson participates in research projects about geriatric-related health issues, and serves as a consultant to academia, associations, and industry on geriatric and pharmacotherapy. He has participated in the analysis of clinical trial data for data safety monitoring boards, and conducted secondary data analysis for peer-reviewed publications.

Dr. Davidson has an active clinical practice covering long-term care and disabled children and adults. Since 2006, he has served on the National Transitions of Care Coalition, a multi-stakeholder initiative to address problems patients encounter during care transitions.

Dr. Davidson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Wofford College, Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from the Medical University of South Carolina, and a Masters in Public Health degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School/Old Dominion University, with an emphasis in epidemiologic methods.

Dr. Gianrico Farrugia, MD Mayo Clinic

Gianrico Farrugia, MD is a consultant in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Department of Internal Medicine, and in the Department of Physiology and Biomedical Engineering at Mayo Clinic. He serves as the Director of the Center for Individualized Medicine. The Center for Individualized Medicine discovers and integrates the latest in genomic, molecular and clinical sciences into personalized care for each Mayo Clinic patient.

Dr. Farrugia also serves as the Associate Medical Director of the Center for Innovation at Mayo Clinic. In the Center for Innovation Dr. Farrugia is responsible for FutureWorks. FutureWorks connects Mayo Clinic with startup companies that focus on digital health, health services, health IT and emerging transformations in healthcare delivery.

Cheri Lattimer, RN, BSN National Transitions of Care Coalition

Cheri Lattimer is Executive Director for the National Transitions of Care Coalition. She is known nationally and internationally for her leadership in quality improvement, case management, care coordination and transitions of care. In 2006 she became NTOCC’s first Project Director. During that time NTOCC has become recognized as a leading source of information on the challenges presented by poor transitions and in developing tools to address those challenges. Under her guidance the Coalition has brought together 32 leading healthcare organizations to provide resources to the entire industry. She has been quoted in several publications including the Healthcare Executive, Case In Point, Professional Case Management Professional and Seniority. She is a sought after speaker on the topics of improving care coordination, transitions of care, integrated care management and the growth of the case management profession.

Ms. Lattimer is also CEO and President of Consulting Management Innovators (CMI) and she serves as Executive Director to CMSA.

Dr. Bruce Leff, MD John Hopkins University School of Medicine

Bruce Leff, MD is Professor of Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He is the Director of the Center on Aging and Health (COAH) Program in Geriatric Health Services Research and the Co-Director of the Elder House Call Program. He is the Associate Medical Director of the Johns Hopkins Medicine Business Development and Strategic Alliances, which brings together Hopkins experts with partners in the business world to translate Hopkins expertise into high-impact programs in the marketplace. His principal areas of research relate to the development, evaluation, and dissemination of novel models of care for older adults, including the Hospital at Home, Guided Care, geriatric service line models, and medical house call practices. His research interests extend to issues related to multi-morbidity, guideline development, and case-mix issues and he is a member of the Johns Hopkins ACG Case-Mix system team. He is a Health and Aging Policy Fellow of the American Political Science Association. Dr. Leff cares for patients in the acute, ambulatory, and home settings. He directs the Medicine Clerkship at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and has received awards for his teaching and mentorship. He is a member of the Board of Governors of the American College of Physicians and President of the American Academy of Home Care Physicians.

Alyssa Lovegrove, CEO New Venture Mentors

Alyssa Lovegrove is an experienced business executive with a career spanning the banking, management consulting, consumer retailing and non-profit sectors in the US and UK. Her current focus is entrepreneurship and innovation - specifically, the launch of start-up businesses and the creation of an active community of entrepreneurship advocates in the DC metro region.

Lovegrove began her career on Wall Street and later joined management consultants McKinsey & Company as a specialist in the financial services sector. In 1994, Lovegrove became the Co-Founder of the Great Little Trading Company (GLTC Ltd), a UK-based online and mail-order retailer of children’s household products. GLTC soon became a brand leader in children’s products and one of the UK’s fastest growing mid-market companies.

After stepping down from day-to-day management of the company in 2005, Lovegrove became a consultant to both commercial and social sector start-ups. She is currently the CEO of New Venture Mentors, a non-profit seed funding source and support network for entrepreneurs from underserved communities in the Washington metro region. She also serves as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the Georgetown University McDonough School of Business. Lovegrove earned a BA in government from Harvard University and an MBA at New York University’s Stern School of Business.

Lisa Suennen, Co-Founder and Managing Member Psilos Group

Lisa Suennen is a Co-Founder and Managing Member of Psilos Group, a healthcare-focused venture capital firm with over $577 million under management. Suennen has headed Psilos' West Coast office since the firm's founding in 1998 and focuses on the medical device, healthcare information technology and healthcare services sectors. She serves as a Director on the Board of several Psilos portfolio companies. Lisa is also an active blogger. You can read her posts at www.venturevalkyrie.com.

Prior to Psilos, Suennen was at Merit Behavioral Care (formerly American Biodyne, Inc), where she held various senior executive roles. Suennen joined Merit in 1988 while still in its early start-up period and, during her nine-year tenure, played a key role in its growth to an $800 million/year company until its ultimate sale to Magellan Health for $800 million in 1998.

Suennen holds an MA in political science, a BA in political science and a BA in mass communications, all from the University of California, Berkeley. Suennen is also Vice Chair of the National Advisory Council of the Institute of Governmental Studies at the University of California, Berkeley and a visiting lecturer at the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business.
